Uttarakhand has launched its first Geographical Indications (GI) Products Gallery at the Forest Training Academy in Haldwani. This new gallery serves as a vibrant showcase for over 30 distinct GI-tagged products originating from various regions of the state, highlighting its diverse agricultural, artisanal, and cultural wealth.
Visitors can now explore a variety of GI-tagged agricultural produce, traditional crafts, and indigenous food items. Special preservation techniques have been employed for perishable goods such as wild figs, Ramnagar litchi, and Ramgarh peaches to ensure their longevity on display.
The state boasts more than 30 GI-tagged products across categories like agriculture, handicrafts, and manufactured goods, with a significant achievement of securing 18 tags in December 2023. The gallery aims to increase visitor awareness and foster connections between producers and consumers, thereby supporting the rural economy and promoting authentic regional specialties.
