According to the latest industry data, US light vehicle sales experienced a 5.5% year-over-year increase in September 2025, reaching 1.25 million units. This growth came despite having one additional selling day compared to the same period in 2024, indicating a robust underlying demand.
The market was led by GM, which maintained its position as the top-selling automaker with a 17.6% market share, its highest since April. Toyota Group ranked second, but its 14.9% share represented the lowest level since March. The Compact Non-Premium SUV segment remained the bestselling category, accounting for 22% of the market, driven by strong performances from the Hyundai Tucson and Hyundai IONIQ 5.
