11 Mar
Summary
- US LNG comprised 33.8% of Spain's gas imports in February.
- Total gas imports rose nearly 20% compared to last year.
- Algeria and Russia saw decreased gas supply to Spain.

Spain's gas imports experienced a significant surge in February, rising nearly 20% compared to the previous year. Liquefied natural gas from the United States emerged as the dominant supplier, accounting for 33.8% of the total gas imported.
In February, Spain imported a total of 31,422 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of gas. Of this volume, 10,612 GWh originated from the United States. Algeria, traditionally the largest supplier, ranked second with 9,151 GWh, representing about 29% of the total.
Imports from Russia saw a considerable decrease, making up only 14.6% of Spain's supply in February, a decline of approximately 52% in absolute terms from the prior year. This shift reflects Europe's broader efforts to reduce energy reliance on Russia.
