Summary
- Ayodhya tourism to generate ₹18,000 crore by 2028.
- UP expects nearly ₹4 trillion in annual tourism revenue.
- Governments invest over ₹5,000 crore in Ayodhya development.

Uttar Pradesh stands to gain immensely from a surge in tourism, primarily linked to the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The state government forecasts an impressive annual revenue of approximately ₹4 trillion, a significant boost attributed to increased visitor numbers following the temple's consecration in January 2024.
Ayodhya's tourism economy is projected to reach ₹18,000 crore by 2028. This marks a substantial increase from the current annual earnings, which range between ₹8,000 crore and ₹12,500 crore across various sectors like hospitality and retail. The development aims to position Ayodhya as a major tourist destination.
To facilitate this growth, both the central and state governments are channeling over ₹5,000 crore into development projects within Ayodhya. This investment is expected to enhance infrastructure and services, further stimulating the tourism sector and contributing to the overall ₹70,000 crore aggregate tourism economy estimated for Uttar Pradesh by 2028.
