UK Growth Hopes Hit Lowest Point This Year
29 Jun
Summary
- Business growth expectations fell to their lowest this year.
- Manufacturing, retail, and services sectors show declining confidence.
- Job vacancies, however, continued to rise for the fourth month.

British companies' outlook for the upcoming quarter has darkened, with growth expectations falling to their lowest level this year. The Confederation of British Industry's (CBI) survey indicated a decline in expected output volumes for the next three months. This gauge, which measures confidence across the manufacturing, retail, and services sectors, has reached its lowest point since December 2025.
The survey's findings follow recent business surveys that highlighted the steepest downturn in the services sector since January 2023. The services sector is a key growth engine for Britain's economy. However, in contrast to the general sentiment, separate data from Adzuna revealed that job vacancies have increased for the fourth consecutive month.
