Manchester Airport Group (MAG) has reported a significant cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to customer data. The breach affected approximately 8.7 million customers across its Manchester, Stansted, and East Midlands airports. Primarily, email addresses associated with in-airport wifi sign-ups were accessed. Additional compromised data includes phone numbers, vehicle registration numbers, and postcodes. However, MAG has strongly emphasized that passenger safety and overall aviation security were never compromised. The incident, which occurred recently, has not led to any operational disruptions. Airport operations and customer parking services are continuing as normal. Crucially, the company stated that neither MAG nor the breached systems held any customer bank or payment details. MAG is working with specialist advisers and relevant authorities to manage the situation and protect its customers. The company has apologized for any inconvenience or concern caused by the data exposure.
