Ubisoft Staff Walkout Over Layoffs
12 Feb
Summary
- Over 1,200 Ubisoft staff participated in a three-day strike.
- Demands included a 10% salary increase and a 4-day work week.
- Prince of Persia remake was among six games canceled by Ubisoft.

Ubisoft employees in France initiated a three-day strike from February 10 to February 12, with participation extending to the Milan office. Union representatives confirmed that at least 1,200 staff took part in this industrial action. The strike was a response to recent widespread layoffs and cost-cutting initiatives implemented by the company.
The primary demands from the union Solidaires Informatique included a 10 percent increase across all salaries and the establishment of a four-day work week. Employees expressed grievances over multiple issues, including the company's decision to mandate a five-day return to the office, with one employee reportedly fired for publicly opposing this policy.
This labor dispute coincides with a challenging period for Ubisoft's game releases. Last month, the publisher canceled six anticipated titles, notably the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, and announced several studio closures as part of a broader organizational restructuring.
