TVS Supply Chain Solutions has established a significant 40,000 sq ft warehousing facility within the Free Trade and Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) in Mannur Village, approximately 30 km from Chennai. This new facility is designed to bolster Caterpillar's global supply chains by enabling parts procurement from multiple countries and directly supporting its manufacturing operations. Strategically positioned along the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor, the facility boasts excellent connectivity to Chennai, Ennore, and Kamarajar ports, which are critical for India's container traffic. This development underscores the 'Make in India for the World' initiative, positioning Caterpillar's Indian operations as a robust component of their worldwide supply network. The facility, equipped with around 4,000 pallet positions, is set to optimize lead times and reduce costs for Caterpillar, enhancing their ability to meet global demand.
Ravi Viswanathan of TVS Supply Chain Solutions highlighted how the FTWZ model combined with their warehousing expertise facilitates faster supply chain movements, increasing resilience against trade disruptions. Ramesh Muthuraman from Caterpillar India Private Ltd acknowledged that this facility by TVS SCS enhances their sourcing flexibility and navigation of global trade conditions. TVS SCS also manages other Caterpillar operations, including external warehousing in Hosur and in-plant warehousing, demonstrating a comprehensive partnership.
