TVS Motor Company has introduced a groundbreaking battery-as-a-service (BaaS) model across its entire electric scooter range, enabling a new ownership mindset. This flexible model allows customers to subscribe to battery usage instead of paying the full battery cost upfront.
The TVS Orbiter V1, with a 1.8 kWh battery, has been launched as part of this initiative. With BaaS, the electric scooter range starts at an accessible ₹49,999 (ex-showroom Delhi). Customers can also opt to purchase the TVS Orbiter V1 without BaaS for ₹84,500.
Gaurav Gupta, President of India 2W Business at TVS Motor, highlighted that BaaS signifies a crucial shift in how customers approach EV ownership. It separates vehicle price from battery usage cost, offering enhanced flexibility and a clear understanding of the overall cost of ownership.
Aniruddha Haldar, Senior Vice President at TVS Motor, added that the new Orbiter V1 and flexible models like BaaS are designed to accelerate EV adoption across India. This strategy aims to drive wider acceptance of electric vehicles by making them more affordable and convenient for everyday urban commuting.
