Trent Ltd experienced a significant surge in its share price, climbing 10% to Rs 2,838 as it touched the upper circuit. This surge followed the company's announcement of a strong 23% year-on-year increase in standalone revenue for the second quarter of FY27. The reported revenue from operations, excluding GST, stood at Rs 5,788 crore, a notable rise from Rs 4,724 crore in the same quarter last year.
This revenue acceleration, the strongest in six quarters, occurred despite a later-than-usual festive season. During Q2 FY27, Trent achieved a significant milestone by opening its 1,000th Zudio store. The company's total store count reached 1,342, encompassing Westside, Zudio, and other lifestyle brands, with 17 new Zudio and 10 new Westside stores added in the quarter.
Analysts noted that Trent's performance exceeded market expectations, which had predicted around 18-20% growth. While Morgan Stanley maintained an 'Overweight' rating, citing strong revenue growth, Citi retained a 'Sell' rating, cautioning about sustained growth and competition. Goldman Sachs held a 'Neutral' stance but raised its target price, acknowledging robust sales despite the festive calendar shift.
