Toppan Unveils Cutting-Edge Hybrid Film Production Line in India
10 Nov, 2025
Summary
- Toppan installs hybrid BOPP and BOPE film production line in India
- Facility to supply packaging films to food and FMCG sectors
- Production capacity to increase by around 40%

In a significant move, Toppan, a wholly owned subsidiary of Toppan Holdings, has installed a cutting-edge hybrid manufacturing line in India that can produce both biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) and biaxially oriented polyethylene (BOPE) films on the same machine. The installation was carried out in collaboration with Toppan's India-based subsidiary, Toppan Speciality Films Private Limited (TSF).
According to the company, TSF will commence mass production on the new line from mid-November 2025. The facility is expected to supply BOPP and BOPE films to packaging converters and major brand owners in the food and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sectors across India and international markets. This new installation is anticipated to raise TSF's overall film production capacity by around 40%.
The hybrid line operates at high speed and incorporates an advanced quality management system to maintain uniform thickness, enhance transparency, and offer consistent strength across the products. Toppan's initiative supports its plan to meet the rising demand for recyclable, mono-material sustainable packaging, particularly in Europe, where companies are shifting from PET to BOPP and BOPE films. The move also aligns with India's Plastic Waste Management Rules and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligations.
