Topo Chico Shortage Looms: Summer Supply in Doubt
21 Feb
Summary
- Facility upgrades and well issues in Mexico halt production.
- The popular glass bottle product is temporarily unavailable in the US.
- Supplies may not return until the third quarter of 2026.

Topo Chico, a premium water brand owned by Coca-Cola, is experiencing a temporary halt in production of its flagship glass-bottled mineral water in the United States. This scarcity is anticipated to extend into the summer months.
According to Coca-Cola, the unavailability stems from necessary facility upgrades at the water source and production plants located in Mexico. The company has identified additional challenges with the source wells, including geological quality issues, which necessitated a pause in orders.
These production disruptions have been ongoing for the past two months due to problems with the wells in Monterrey. Coca-Cola is investing in improvements to ensure source stability and enhance quality, aiming to resume increased production.
The unavailability specifically affects Topo Chico Mineral Water in glass bottles. Other products, such as Topo Chico Sabores and canned cocktails, remain available. Coca-Cola acquired Topo Chico in 2017, recognizing the growing market for premium waters as consumers move away from sugary sodas.
