Textiles PLI Scheme Reopens: New Investment Rules!
19 Jul
Summary
- PLI scheme investment criteria lowered to ₹150 crore and ₹100 crore.
- 96 companies selected with ₹12,822.67 crore committed investment.
- Approved units expected to be fully operational by 2027.

The Textiles Ministry is set to open a fresh application window for its ₹10,683 crore Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. This initiative focuses on Man-Made Fibre (MMF) apparel, MMF fabrics, and technical textiles. Recent modifications have lowered investment thresholds to ₹150 crore and ₹100 crore, aiming to attract more industry players.
To date, 96 companies have been approved under the scheme, committing a total investment of ₹12,822.67 crore and projecting a turnover of ₹58,294.18 crore. While actual disbursements have been limited, with only ₹54 crore provisionally disbursed to two applicants in FY 2024-25, officials cite pandemic-related delays and the typical two-year gestation period for large manufacturing projects.
The ministry anticipates that all registered units will be fully operational by 2027. While earlier discussions considered expanding the scheme to cotton-based garments, the current focus remains on MMF and technical textiles due to their significant untapped potential.
