Tesla Q3 Deliveries Beat Wall Street Estimates
2 Oct
Summary
- Tesla's Q3 deliveries reached 486,532, exceeding analyst expectations.
- Deliveries represent a slight decrease from the previous year but an increase from Q2.
- Tesla's stock performance lags behind megacap tech peers this year.
Tesla announced its third-quarter vehicle delivery and production figures, revealing 486,532 deliveries and 464,391 produced vehicles. This total surpassed the analyst expectation of approximately 461,100 deliveries, though it marks a modest decrease from the 497,099 deliveries recorded in the third quarter of the prior year. Deliveries did, however, see an increase compared to the second quarter's 480,126.
The automaker is navigating increased competition from global EV manufacturers and a consumer backlash against Elon Musk. Furthermore, the reduction of a U.S. federal tax credit, effective after September 30, 2025, adds to market pressures.
Despite the delivery numbers, Tesla's stock has declined 21% this year, underperforming its megacap tech counterparts. The company also reported deploying 13.7 GWh of energy storage products in Q3. Global EV demand is reportedly rising, with projections suggesting EVs could represent one in four new cars sold worldwide by 2025, driven by energy security and fuel cost concerns.
