Sanmarg Private Limited has completed the acquisition of Tehelka.com Private Limited, securing a 100% stake in the publication. The group intends to invest further in Tehelka, aiming to restore its esteemed reputation for investigative journalism.
Tehelka, once renowned for its pioneering sting journalism in the early 2000s, is slated for a transformation. Under the new ownership, it will shift from a fortnightly to a weekly publication, continuing its presence in both print and digital mediums. This acquisition includes all of Tehelka.com Private Limited's assets.
The acquisition was finalized last month from a group of investors who had owned Tehelka.com since 2017. Sanmarg has assured commitment to Tehelka's 276 lifetime subscribers, who are also its founding members. The group has also appointed Arvind Chaturvedi as chief editor to guide the publication.
Sanmarg's acquisition aims to preserve Tehelka's legacy while adapting it for contemporary journalism and digital audiences. The group will ensure compliance with all government regulations throughout the transition.
