Tata Motors Eyes $100B Revenue by 2031

Tata Group has set an ambitious target of achieving nearly $100 billion in automotive revenue by the fiscal year ending March 2031. This projection follows the demerger of Tata Motors' passenger and commercial vehicle businesses. Jaguar Land Rover is anticipated to be a major contributor, expected to generate between $45 billion and $50 billion towards this goal.

The commercial vehicle segment is targeted for approximately $40 billion in revenue. Tata Motors' domestic operations are slated for a substantial investment of around Rs4 trillion (approximately $41.94 billion) over the next five years. This capital infusion is earmarked for new products, electrification initiatives, enhanced manufacturing capacity, and technological advancements.

Jaguar Land Rover is also set to invest approximately £20 billion (around $26.85 billion) over the same five-year period. A key focus for JLR is strengthening its presence in North America, particularly the US, which is designated as a priority market alongside the UK, Europe, and China. The company aims for double-digit revenue growth, supported by a wider array of propulsion options and market-specific offerings.

In India, Tata Motors' passenger vehicle division aims to increase its market share from 14.2% to 20% by March 2031, backed by new model launches and refreshes. The company also seeks to maintain its leading position in India's electric vehicle market, currently holding nearly 45%, by expanding its EV range across various price segments. Additionally, the group's battery manufacturing unit, Agratas, is expected to commence production in calendar year 2027, supplying batteries for both JLR and Tata Motors vehicles.
