20 May
Summary
- Mills urge CM to withdraw rooftop solar network charges.
- Deemed demand charge arrears collection to be kept in abeyance.
- Freeze demand charges at ₹608/kVA/month for three years.

The Southern India Mills' Association (SIMA) has urgently requested Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay to resolve significant power-related challenges impacting their operations. The association highlighted a substantial increase in energy costs and adverse decisions concerning non-conventional energy sources.
SIMA's delegation specifically appealed for the withdrawal of network charges on rooftop solar power generation, citing a High Court order. They also requested that the collection of arrears for deemed demand charges be suspended until the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity issues a final ruling.
Furthermore, SIMA is advocating for a freeze on demand charges at the current rate of ₹608 per kVA per month, maintaining this rate for a period of three years. The association also emphasized the need for adequate funding and swift implementation of vital schemes like the PM Mitra Park Scheme and the Tamil Nadu Integrated Textile Policy.
