Cho also highlighted Japan's COVID-19 vaccine assistance to Taiwan and honored former Ambassador to Japan Frank Hsieh, who received the prestigious Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun award. Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae facilitated the award presentation, demonstrating the close diplomatic ties between the two countries.
The Premier emphasized the robust economic, cultural, and tourism exchanges between Taiwan and Japan, noting their shared commitment to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. Cho cited the recent meeting between Japan's Prime Minister and Taiwan's APEC representative as evidence of the active bilateral engagement.
The symposium featured 20 specialized groups covering 50 topics, with over 60 Japanese experts serving as lecturers. Cho highlighted successful Taiwan-Japan collaborations, including the MRT Jakarta and North-South Commuter Railway projects, and suggested future overseas partnerships leveraging the complementary engineering expertise of both countries.
