Swiggy Stock Plunges Amidst Fierce Competition
11 May
Summary
- Swiggy shares dropped nearly 7% on Monday.
- Instamart's growth lagged rivals like Blinkit.
- Intensifying competition impacts the quick-commerce sector.

Swiggy's stock saw a sharp decline of up to 6.8% on Monday, heading for its worst performance in over a month. This downturn is primarily attributed to concerns over decelerating growth within its quick-commerce segment, Instamart. Analysts highlight that Instamart's gross order value growth of 68.8% lagged behind competitors such as Blinkit, which reported a 95.4% increase. This suggests a potential loss of market share in the rapidly evolving quick-commerce landscape.
Despite these challenges, Swiggy reported a consolidated loss of 8 billion rupees for the three months ending March 31, an improvement from the previous quarter's 10.65 billion rupees. The company's core food delivery business also showed its strongest growth in years with improved margins. However, investor focus remains sharply on the execution and profitability of the quick commerce operations amidst aggressive competition from players like Zepto, Amazon, and Flipkart.
