Summary
- Creditors approved a settlement of ₹6.5 crore against claims of ₹22,000 crore.

- Allegations of associate companies voting on the committee of creditors emerged.

Subhash Chandra, a prominent figure in India's satellite television history, is under public criticism following details of his personal insolvency process. Creditors approved a settlement of ₹6.5 crore, a fraction of the ₹22,000 crore in admitted personal guarantee claims. Chandra clarified that Indian bank claims amount to ₹5,311 crore, and that borrowing entities are expected to fully repay lenders.
Concerns have been raised regarding alleged associate companies holding significant voting shares in the committee of creditors. Chandra stated these entities are not directly controlled by him, though family members are involved, and emphasized that separation from his brothers occurred in 2008-09. He asserted that these companies' voting does not alter statutory obligations.
Chandra explained that his personal net worth has significantly decreased from an estimated ₹40,000 crore in 2019, with current disclosed assets around ₹31.79 crore. He attributed this to the diminished market value of assets and stated he personally possesses no assets, with family members managing their own wealth. He remains confident that borrowing entities will settle all pending dues.
