A proposed national class-action lawsuit has been filed against StubHub by a Vancouver man who claims he never received World Cup tickets he purchased for over $18,000. The lawsuit alleges StubHub engaged in a scheme to sell event tickets they knew did not exist.
The plaintiff purchased tickets for two matches in Vancouver in March 2026, costing $11,407.11 and $5,765.15 respectively, plus significant fees. Despite assurances and multiple contacts with customer service, the tickets failed to materialize before the events.
The lawsuit further claims StubHub breached its 'FanProtect Guarantee,' which promises tickets for entry or timely delivery, by not providing comparable seats or honoring the guarantee. The proposed class includes individuals who purchased resale tickets for events in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Quebec, or Ontario since March 31, 2025, and did not receive them or received different tickets.
This legal action, filed in B.C. Supreme Court on July 15, seeks damages and restitution for affected consumers. The allegations have not yet been proven in court.
