Starbucks India has introduced protein-infused cold foam as a permanent menu addition, catering to the growing health consciousness among Indian consumers. For an extra Rs 50, patrons can enhance their iced drinks with an additional 11-15 grams of protein. This initiative is part of Starbucks' strategy to evolve into a lifestyle brand that seamlessly supports consumers' wellness journeys.
The coffee giant aims to normalize protein intake beyond traditional gym settings, making it a part of daily routines. A standard iced coffee already contains 20-25 grams of protein, and the new topping significantly boosts this. Starbucks is also offering a zero-added-sugar option, aligning with consumer trends towards reduced sugar consumption.
This protein-enhanced cold foam is currently available across over 500 Starbucks stores in India, through a partnership with home-grown brand SuperYou. While initially launched for iced drinks, Starbucks plans to extend this feature to hot brews within approximately six months and explore its integration into other product categories. The company has already rolled out similar protein options in the US and Canada.
