Starbucks Cuts More Corporate Jobs Amid Restructuring
26 Aug
Summary
- Starbucks filed a WARN notice for 224 job separations at its Seattle headquarters.
- The cuts are part of a broader restructuring effort announced in May.
- Despite layoffs, Starbucks has reported four consecutive quarters of positive sales growth.

Starbucks is continuing to reduce its corporate workforce as part of an ongoing restructuring. Last week, the company filed a WARN notice affecting 224 positions at its Seattle headquarters. These separations are linked to organizational realignments and employees declining transfers to Nashville.
The current job cuts are a continuation of a broader restructuring initiative unveiled in May. This initiative includes approximately 300 corporate layoffs and regional office closures, with an estimated $400 million in associated charges. This effort aligns with CEO Brian Niccol's "Back to Starbucks" strategy.
Despite these internal adjustments, Starbucks has demonstrated strong financial performance. The company has reported positive comparable-store sales growth for four consecutive quarters. This trend was highlighted by a 7.9% global increase in the fiscal third quarter, indicating resilience and market demand.
Financially, Starbucks ended its latest quarter with 41,304 locations globally. As of August 24, 2026, its shares were valued at $107.49, showing a year-to-date increase of 26%. Revenue for fiscal Q3 2026 reached $9.32 billion, exceeding analyst estimates. However, reported sales saw a slight 1.4% year-over-year decrease, attributed to the restructuring of its China retail operations into a licensed joint venture.
