ABC Network Seeks New Home in St. Louis Market
24 Jul
Summary
- ABC programming will move to a D2 digital channel.
- The affiliation switch takes effect on September 1st.
- The change involves stations in the St. Louis market.

In a significant shift for the St. Louis media market, ABC is set to change its television affiliation. Beginning September 1st, the network will move its programming from the current Sinclair-owned station to Gray Media. This transition means ABC content will be available on the D2 digital channel of KMOV-TV.
The current ABC affiliate, KDNL-TV, has held the affiliation since 1995. Its contract is set to expire at the end of August, with network programming continuing until then. Such affiliation changes are not uncommon in the broadcasting industry, with similar switches occurring in other markets.
Gray Media plans to leverage the new affiliation by offering locally produced news content on KMOV-TV. While ABC, Gray, and Sinclair have not yet officially commented on the move, the change is confirmed by sources familiar with the plans. This development follows closely on the heels of CBS announcing its own affiliation switches in six markets.
