Spotify Podcast Cuts Hit The Ringer Network
23 Mar
Summary
- Fifteen employees laid off from Spotify's podcast division.
- Layoffs impacted The Ringer and Spotify Studios operations.
- These cuts follow larger layoffs in 2023 and early 2024.

Spotify has again reduced its workforce within its podcast division, with 15 employees laid off on Monday. These cuts represent about 3% of the podcast organization and primarily affected The Ringer and Spotify Studios. The company indicated these staffing shifts are intended to enhance execution, speed, and team alignment across its podcast operations.
Despite these layoffs, Spotify continues to invest in expansion areas, particularly multiformat content and video offerings. This recent reduction follows significant layoffs in June 2025, which impacted 15 employees at The Ringer and Spotify Studios.
Previously, Spotify underwent substantial restructuring in 2023, eliminating around 200 podcast-related positions. In total, the company let go approximately 1,500 employees, or 17% of its global workforce, between late 2023 and early 2024. Spotify acquired The Ringer, founded by Bill Simmons, for roughly $250 million in 2020.
