SMA Solar, a supplier of solar power equipment, reported its half-year sales for January to June 2026, which were largely in line with the prior year, totaling €687 million. This steady performance was significantly boosted by robust demand for rooftop solar panels, a trend attributed to households aiming to mitigate escalating fuel prices. The company's sales in the household and business unit saw a quarter-on-quarter increase, though its utility-scale division experienced a slight decrease.
Furthermore, SMA Solar's order backlog experienced a substantial surge, climbing by 50% to €1.8 billion by the end of June 2026, compared to the same period last year. CEO Jürgen Reinert highlighted the growing market for flexible battery storage systems. He emphasized that rising electricity consumption, partly due to data centers and AI applications, is fueling global demand for reliable and sustainable energy solutions.
