SJVN's Quarterly Profits Plunge 30% Despite Slight Sales Increase

In the quarter ended September 2025, SJVN, a prominent power generation company, experienced a significant decline in its net profit. The company's net profit fell by 30.2% to Rs 307.91 crore, compared to Rs 441.14 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.
Despite the drop in net profit, SJVN's sales rose marginally by 0.6% to Rs 1,032.40 crore in the quarter ended September 2025, up from Rs 1,026.25 crore in the corresponding quarter of 2024. The company's operating profit margin also improved, reaching 83.30% in the latest quarter, compared to 80.72% in the same period a year ago.
The decline in net profit can be attributed to a 14% decrease in profit before depreciation and tax (PBDT) to Rs 623.61 crore, and a 23% drop in profit before tax (PBT) to Rs 452.68 crore, both in comparison to the previous year's corresponding quarter.
