A Shropshire-based firm, Bridgnorth Aluminium (BAL), has announced a significant five-year contract to supply aluminium for electric car batteries in the United States. This agreement positions BAL as a key supplier to a leading materials provider in the battery industry, with production centered at its Bridgnorth facility.
The company has experienced a period of resurgence, recently increasing its workforce by 40 employees and undertaking a £2m investment in new technology. This growth has led to a "buoyant order book" and a return to 24/7 production.
Adrian Musgrave, head of sales, highlighted the deal with Lotte Aluminium Materials USA as a crucial achievement. He emphasized that the manufactured material will support the evolving North American battery supply chain. BAL's technical expertise and "green" production methods are seen as vital for the transition to electrified transportation and energy storage solutions.
