Shein Loses London Copyright Lawsuit Against Temu
13 Aug
Summary
- Shein's copyright infringement claims against Temu failed.
- Temu was accused of using Shein's photos to advertise copied products.
- A London court ruled against Shein's accusations of industrial-scale infringement.

Online fast-fashion platform Shein has lost its copyright infringement lawsuit against competitor Temu in London. The legal battle, which began with Shein's accusations in May, centered on claims that Temu had infringed its copyright "on an industrial scale". Shein alleged that Temu used its photos to advertise copies of Shein's own-brand clothing, aiming to "piggy-back" on its established market presence.
However, Judge Kelyn Bacon delivered a written ruling on Thursday, August 13, 2026, stating that Shein's claims for copyright infringement had not succeeded. Temu, a platform owned by PDD Holdings, had contested the allegations, asserting that Shein was employing litigation tactics to suppress competition. The court's decision rejected Shein's assertions, concluding the copyright dispute in favor of Temu.
