14 Jan
Summary
- Scorpion Engineering's license will be revoked on January 24.
- The company repeatedly overloaded vehicles, violating safety standards.
- Director Nigel Hannon plans to appeal the decision to revoke the license.

Scorpion Engineering Ltd, a recovery firm operating in Swindon, Wiltshire since 1986, is facing the revocation of its operating license on January 24. This action follows an inspection report detailing significant violations of safety regulations and operator undertakings.
Senior traffic commissioner Kevin Rooney cited repeated vehicle overloading and poor maintenance standards as the primary reasons for the decision. In his report, Rooney expressed a definitive lack of trust in the company's future compliance, highlighting knowingly and recklessly made failings over an extended period.
Despite the impending license cessation, company director Nigel Hannon stated he received notification on Christmas Eve and intends to appeal the ruling. Scorpion Engineering, which employs 25 people, offers services including fleet delivery for leasing companies and 24-hour recovery and garage workshops.
