PPL India, a copyright licensing organization, reported that a representative visited Ballr on June 24, 2026, and identified numerous popular songs being played, including tracks by Indian artists and international singers like Justin Bieber and Dua Lipa. It was noted that while the club had a previous license, it had expired and was not renewed.
The court's ad interim relief emphasizes the necessity for commercial establishments to obtain proper permissions before publicly performing copyrighted music. PPL India reiterated its commitment to identifying and taking legal action against venues that continue to use copyrighted music without authorization, underscoring the serious legal consequences.
