San Antonio Lands $200M Advanced Manufacturing Hub

Industrial Electric Mfg. (IEM) has announced plans for a substantial $200 million advanced manufacturing facility in San Antonio, Texas. This expansive 1-million-square-foot plant is slated to be operational by 2030 and is anticipated to generate up to 3,000 new jobs. The project is recognized as the San Antonio region's most significant job-producing investment in over two decades.

The facility will be situated at Brooks City Base, a redeveloped former Air Force installation. IEM specializes in custom power distribution and control equipment, serving critical sectors such as data centers and hospitals. The new plant will focus on producing power distribution systems, switchgear, and switchboards, contributing to IEM's domestic supply chain capabilities.

This ambitious project has garnered support from the state of Texas, which has offered a $3.36 million Texas Enterprise Fund grant. This incentive is tied to the creation of at least 448 jobs. Governor Greg Abbott highlighted Texas's favorable business climate and skilled workforce as key factors attracting such investments.

The phased development of the plant will include construction and hiring schedules to be announced soon. IEM operates existing facilities in California, Florida, and British Columbia, having invested significantly in expanding its manufacturing footprint across North America in recent years.
