Sam's Club Chicken Tops Costco, Consumer Reports Says
3 Jul
Summary
- Sam's Club rotisserie chicken named best overall by Consumer Reports.
- Costco's chicken noted for inconsistent seasoning across samples.
- Evaluation included taste tests, chemical screening, and weight checks.

Consumer Reports has declared Sam's Club's Member's Mark Seasoned Rotisserie Chicken the best overall, ranking it above Costco's long-favored Kirkland Signature chicken. The evaluation, which considered flavor, seasoning, and texture, found Sam's Club's offering to be more consistently seasoned and juicier.
Costco's chicken, a signature value item for the retailer, still landed among top picks. However, tasters noted variability in its seasoning. The review involved purchasing multiple chickens from various locations, conducting blind taste tests, and checking for chemicals, with no PFAS detected.
Additional findings revealed that many chickens weighed more than advertised, effectively lowering their per-pound cost. Other top-rated chickens included those from Stop & Shop, Walmart, Wegmans, and Whole Foods Market, while BJ's, Hannaford, ShopRite, and The Fresh Market were deemed better suited for recipes.
