Supreme Court to Hear Sahara Employees' Pleas for Overdue Salaries

On November 16, 2025, the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the interim pleas of Sahara Group employees seeking payment of their pending salaries. This comes as the court is also reviewing a request from the Sahara India Commercial Corporation Ltd. (SICCL) to sell 88 of its prime properties to Adani Properties Private Limited.
The Supreme Court had previously sought responses from the Centre, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), and other stakeholders on SICCL's plea to sell the properties. The court has also asked the amicus curiae, senior advocate Shekhar Naphade, to collate details of the 88 properties and examine whether they are clean or disputed.
Additionally, the court has directed the Sahara Group to examine the claims of the workers who have not been paid their salaries for many years. The amicus curiae has been asked to look into the matter of the employees' salaries and arrears, and the court will consider it during the next hearing on November 17.
The court has made it clear that it will decide whether the properties are to be sold piecemeal or in one flock. The Sahara firm's plea, along with the intervention application and the employees' pleas, are all scheduled for consideration on November 17.
