Royal Caribbean Scraps 20 Sailings, Stranding Passengers
24 Mar
Summary
- Royal Caribbean canceled 20 sailings affecting thousands of passengers.
- Voyages aboard Freedom of the Seas for May-September 2027 are impacted.
- Guests are offered refunds or alternative cruises with different ships.

Royal Caribbean has canceled 20 planned voyages, impacting thousands of passengers and disrupting vacation plans. The cruise line cited dynamic deployment planning and fleet considerations for the decision. Specifically, sailings of the Freedom of the Seas, originally scheduled from May through September 2027, have been affected.
These canceled itineraries include 5-night cruises to the Dominican Republic and Perfect Day at CocoCay, 4-night Bahamian getaways, and 9-night voyages with stops in Aruba and Curaçao. Booked passengers are being directly contacted with their options.
Guests affected by the cancellations have been offered alternative sailings, such as a 4-night cruise to Perfect Day at CocoCay and the Bahamas aboard the Wonder of the Seas. Alternatively, passengers can opt for a full refund of their cruise fare and any prepaid amenities if they do not wish to accept the new arrangements.
This move by Royal Caribbean follows similar disruptions in the cruise industry, including Carnival Cruise Line's cancellation of 11 sailings for its Carnival Firenze ship in fall 2026. These industry shifts occur amidst broader global security concerns and market volatility.
