Transport infrastructure firm RITES Ltd announced on March 7, 2026, that it has been awarded a ₹45.19 crore consultancy contract by the Government of West Bengal's Public Works (Roads) Directorate. This contract is for project management services related to the construction of a new four-lane extra-dosed bridge. The bridge will span the Muriganga river, linking Kachuberia on Sagar Island with Kakdwip in the South 24 Parganas district.
RITES will be responsible for the entire design process and will act as the Authority Engineer for construction supervision. The project is expected to be executed over a period of 48 months. This development follows a recent regulatory filing where RITES received revised estimates for railway electrification work from South Western Railway for a project valued at ₹729.28 crore.
