RBI Reports 1.1% Rise in Currency Circulation

As of February 15, 2026, currency in circulation in India experienced a fortnightly increase of 1.1%, bringing the total to Rs 40.44 lakh crore. This figure represents a significant year-on-year growth of 10.8%, a notable acceleration compared to the 5.6% rise observed in the preceding year.
In parallel, the nation's reserve money also saw a slight upward trend, increasing by 0.3% over the same fortnight to stand at Rs 49.65 lakh crore. Year-to-date within the current fiscal year, currency in circulation has expanded by 8.6%, while reserve money has grown by 2.2%.
