The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) recently issued a notice to AB Hotels Ltd, operator of the Radisson Blu Hotel in New Delhi. This action was taken due to significant failures in meeting food safety and hygiene requirements.
The FSSAI's inspection revealed numerous deficiencies, including poor maintenance of premises and equipment, such as rusted machinery and leaking freezers. Issues with refrigeration, ventilation, drainage, and stagnant water were also highlighted.
Further concerns included inadequate pest control, with evidence of cockroach and fly activity. Food procurement practices were also found wanting, with fungal-affected produce received. Improper segregation of food types and food handlers working without proper attire were also noted.
The hotel has been directed to implement immediate corrective measures and submit a detailed report. Failure to comply may lead to further actions, potentially including the suspension of its FSSAI license.
