Expatriates in Qatar now have a shortened 14-day grace period to leave the country after their residency cards are revoked, a reduction from the previous 30 days. This announcement was made by an official from the Ministry of Interior's Public Relations Department.
Daily fines of QR10 will be imposed on individuals who overstay the new 14-day period. Additionally, a daily fine of QR200 applies for overstaying visitation visas, highlighting the importance of verifying visa and stay durations. Travelers are encouraged to use the Metrash mobile application to check for outstanding fines or obligations before departing.
New regulations also impact newborns, requiring them to obtain residency documents and be registered with passport authorities. Children born in Qatar must secure a residency permit under the father's sponsorship before leaving the country, as they will not be permitted to re-enter without it. Travelers are also urged to utilize the electronic gate system at Hamad International Airport to expedite immigration processes.
