24/7 Power Watch for Punjab's Farmers

Ahead of the upcoming paddy sowing season, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has established a dedicated paddy control room in Ludhiana. This 24/7 facility, operational from June 1, is situated at the SCADA control centre in Sarabha Nagar. Its primary function is to monitor power supply across the central zone during this critical agricultural period.

The control room will continuously track power outages and feeder breakdowns, with a special focus on rural areas vital for irrigation. Given the significant increase in electricity consumption during paddy sowing due to extensive tubewell usage, PSPCL aims to ensure uninterrupted supply to prevent adverse impacts on agricultural operations.

To manage this, PSPCL has formed a dedicated team comprising engineers and operators working in shifts. They will collect real-time fault information and relay it through four dedicated mobile numbers. Emphasis will be placed on restoring power within an hour of any disruption. Field offices are mandated to submit daily outage reports to the headquarters in Patiala.

Chief Engineer Jagdev Singh Hans stated that the control room's establishment is to ensure continuous monitoring and immediate response to breakdowns. Assistant Executive Engineer Samriddhi Midda will oversee the operations of this crucial facility throughout the paddy sowing season, coordinating with senior officials to support farmers.
