Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has unveiled a significant two-year plan to upgrade infrastructure in Pune and the Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR). This initiative addresses the challenge of rapid urbanization outpacing development, with senior officials tasked with implementation starting within two months.
The plan encompasses crucial projects like outer and inner ring roads, high-capacity mass transit routes, and tunnels designed to improve connectivity across Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the wider PMR. Some of these projects are already underway.
Fadnavis acknowledged concerns about Hinjewadi's infrastructure, assuring that the region would become highly desirable once the plan is fully executed. Pune is also rapidly emerging as a major Global Capability Centre (GCC) hub, with projections indicating substantial growth.
Additionally, the chief minister recognized Pune and Mumbai as leading fintech capitals, with Maharashtra's fintech sector attracting significant investment. He emphasized the need to expand this ecosystem to other cities like Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Nagpur.
