Lachy Groom, a prominent solo investor, committed $20 million to Indian startup Pronto after a 20-minute initial meeting with its 24-year-old founder. This investment, an extension of Pronto's Series B round, valued the company at $200 million, a significant increase from its valuation just over two months prior.
Pronto, founded in 2025 by Anjali Sardana, focuses on building a platform for domestic labor in India. Sardana, who previously worked at Bain Capital and 8VC, was drawn to Groom's founder-driven investment approach, where founder quality is paramount.
The instant home services market in India is experiencing rapid growth, with projections estimating it could reach $15 billion to $18 billion by 2030. Pronto competes with players like Snabbit and Urban Company's InstaHelp in this dynamic sector.
Despite facing intense competition and a capital-intensive market, Pronto has demonstrated rapid scaling. The startup grew from approximately 18,000 daily bookings to 26,000 in just over a month. A key strategy is driving repeat usage, with its top users contributing significantly to bookings.
However, Pronto faces supply-side challenges, having expanded its worker network to 6,500. Demand consistently outpaces supply, making forecasting and capacity management critical as the company continues its expansion.
