Internship Scheme Expands: New Sectors Added!

The government is significantly broadening the PM Internship scheme, now welcoming new sectors like semiconductors and renewable energy. Companies can participate even without prior corporate social responsibility (CSR) obligations, a key change from earlier phases. Eligibility for candidates has also been eased, with the monthly stipend increased to ₹9,000 from ₹5,000.
The minimum age for eligibility is now 18, a reduction from 21, while the maximum age has been raised to 25. Internship durations are also revised to six and nine months. The third phase of the program is underway, aiming to accommodate approximately 100,000 aspirants.
This phase aims to provide over 15,500 internship offers across 19 diverse sectors and 32 states. Companies can now post opportunities throughout the year on the internship portal, enhancing convenience for both employers and aspiring interns.
