Plimsoll Productions has announced its rebranding to Plimsoll Studios. This strategic reorganization includes the return of U.S.-based head Alan Eyres to the company's Bristol headquarters as Chief Development Officer. Eyres will now oversee an enlarged creative unit, reporting to founder and CEO Grant Mansfield.
The studio is dividing its operations into five specialized divisions: Natural History & Adventure, Live, Entertainment, Family & Kids, and Digital. The Family & Kids division will be led by Alex Ranken and Ged Mansfield, while Neil Warwick, formerly of Aardman, has been hired to head the new digital division. This expansion aims to leverage the company's intellectual property and create new digital content.
Plimsoll Studios is recognized for its natural history programming, such as Disney+'s 'A Real Bug's Life,' and has also ventured into live events like Netflix's 'Skyscraper Live.' The recent commissions include 'Nightmares of Nature' for Netflix and the IMAX documentary 'Horse Power.' The company's parent, ITV Studios, is currently involved in a £1.6 billion ($2.1 billion) acquisition deal with Sky.
