Deep-tech startup Planys Technologies has successfully raised ₹100 crore in a funding round spearheaded by investors Ashish Kacholia and Lashit Sanghvi. This significant capital infusion is earmarked for expanding Planys' industrial inspection services into international markets. Furthermore, the funds will drive the advancement of the company's defense technology initiatives via its newly established subsidiary, Planys Ark.
Founded in 2015 by IIT Madras alumni, Planys has distinguished itself with 21 granted patents, focusing on robots and solutions for extreme underwater environments. Their expertise in non-destructive testing enables high-precision inspections of critical infrastructure in challenging, inaccessible locations. The company utilizes advanced technologies like hybrid ROVs, robotic crawlers, and an AI-powered 3D Inspection Twin.
Planys is strategically enhancing its defense capabilities, aiming to develop next-generation unmanned underwater systems. The establishment of Planys Ark signifies a concentrated effort on high-impact defense opportunities, with plans to build a dedicated UUV production facility in South Chennai. These indigenous underwater systems are designed to bolster India's defense capabilities to global standards.
