Summary
- Peak XV's Surge platform now invests up to $5 million per startup.
- New cohort spans AI, robotics, space, and fintech sectors.
- Over $50 million invested across 18 diverse global startups.

Peak XV Partners, a major venture capital firm managing over $10 billion, has elevated its seed-stage investment through its Surge platform. The new investment ceiling is set at up to $5 million per company, a substantial increase from the previous $3 million.
This updated strategy is evident in the Surge 12 cohort, comprising 18 startups that collectively secured over $50 million in funding from Peak XV. These companies represent a wide array of innovative sectors, including AI, robotics, space technology, consumer products, healthcare, music, and fintech. Some startups in this batch had already received outside funding prior to joining Surge, including from Peak XV itself.
The Surge program has expanded its global reach, with founders and companies originating from San Francisco to Sydney. While only five startups in Surge 12 are primarily focused on the Indian market, over half of the companies are based in India, indicating a strategic distinction between operational bases and target customer markets.
Since its inception in 2019 as Sequoia Capital India and Southeast Asia, Surge has supported over 180 startups. The firm highlights that its top 10 portfolio companies now generate more than $1 billion in combined annual revenue, showcasing the program's success in nurturing high-growth ventures. Peak XV continues to invest in these companies as they advance through later funding stages.
