Paytm Parent Seeks Insolvency Against WinZO Over Unpaid Ads

On November 11, 2025, the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) issued a notice to the online gaming platform WinZO following an insolvency plea filed by Paytm's parent company, One97 Communications Ltd. The plea claims that WinZO owes around ₹3.6 crore in unpaid dues for advertising services.

The matter was heard by a bench comprising Justice Jyotsna Sharma (Judicial Member) and Anu Jagmohan Singh (Technical Member). The tribunal granted WinZO two weeks to file its response, with the next hearing scheduled for December 15, 2025.

Paytm's counsel, Senior Advocate Krishnendu Datta, told the tribunal that the dues stemmed from four invoices issued under purchase orders for promoting WinZO's real-money gaming products on Paytm's app. The invoices had a 60-day payment term, and a demand notice was served on October 1, 2025, but no payment was made.

WinZO's counsel, Senior Advocate Abhishek Malhotra, argued that under the purchase order, the invoices required email validation before payment could be processed. He claimed that the invoices were forwarded to a central team for evaluation.

However, Paytm's counsel maintained that WinZO could not indefinitely delay validation and that earlier invoices had been cleared without dispute. The tribunal has asked WinZO to present its defense in its counter statement, with the next hearing set for December 15, 2025.
