3 Jul
Summary
- Paytm Europe Payments obtained a payment institution license from Luxembourg's CSSF.
- The license is effective from July 2, 2026, with no specified expiration.
- This follows a €9m investment to increase Paytm Europe's paid-up capital.
Paytm Europe Payments, a subsidiary of One 97 Communications, has been granted a payment institution license by Luxembourg's financial regulator, the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF). This license became effective on July 2, 2026, and has no specified validity period.
The authorization permits Paytm Europe Payments to engage in several payment services, including the execution of payment transactions such as fund transfers from a payment account. It also covers transactions where funds are secured by a credit line for the user and the acquiring of payment transactions.
This regulatory approval follows a decision in May 2026 by Paytm Cloud Technologies Limited to invest €9 million in Paytm Europe Payments. The investment aimed to increase the subsidiary's paid-up capital to support business needs.
Paytm Europe Payments was incorporated in Luxembourg in January 2026. In December 2025, Paytm also received authorization from the Reserve Bank of India to operate as a payment aggregator for offline and cross-border transactions.
