Paramount President Faces Leak Allegations
25 Feb
Summary
- Shell accused of leaking UFC deal data before announcement.
- Whistleblower complaint is under investigation by law firm.
- SEC is reviewing a separate, related complaint.

Paramount President Jeff Shell is under investigation following a whistleblower complaint alleging he leaked confidential information about the company's $7.7 billion deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The alleged leak occurred a month before the deal was publicly announced in August 2025.
The complaint was filed by R.J. Cipriani, a known whistleblower and gambler. Shell's attorney, Patricia Glaser, has issued a statement asserting the complaint contains "clear errors of fact and law" and promising a strong response.
This situation unfolds as Shell's career has seen a recent resurgence. He was previously removed as NBCUniversal CEO in 2023 but later took an interim role at RedBird Capital Partners, which was involved in the Skydance acquisition of Paramount Global.
The significant UFC deal, set to last through 2032, ended the promotion's pay-per-view model, with events now broadcast on Paramount+. The deal significantly boosted TKO Group Holdings' stock. Meanwhile, Paramount is also currently negotiating an acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery.
