Virat Kohli's Restaurant Shut Down Over Rs 2 Crore Dues
22 Apr
Summary
- Restaurant ordered to shut down due to six months of unpaid rent.
- Total dues, including maintenance, exceed Rs 2 crore.
- Virat Kohli withdrew brand association amid compliance issues.

The Bengaluru branch of One8 Commune, a restaurant associated with Virat Kohli, has been ordered to cease operations by the city's civil court. This drastic measure follows a reported six-month default on rent payments. The total outstanding amount, encompassing rent, maintenance charges, and revenue share, is estimated to have exceeded Rs 2 crore. The court's directive mandates the premises remain closed until all dues are settled.
Launched in December 2023, the outlet faced early regulatory challenges, including operating without a No Objection Certificate from the Fire Department. Subsequent violations included breaching operating hours in July 2024, and a smoking zone violation in June 2025. These compliance issues escalated, with another notice issued in December 2024 regarding fire safety risks.
Amidst these mounting problems, Virat Kohli reportedly distanced himself from the Bengaluru outlet and withdrew his brand association. This withdrawal is believed to have negatively impacted the restaurant's appeal and led to a further decline in customer footfall, exacerbating the financial strain and ultimately leading to the rent default.
